Parktheater Eindhoven
For the 25th anniversary of “Parktheater Friends” I was commissioned to make a painting in which the change of time in the theater is visible. I choose to paint on a three-dimensional stretched canvas. Seen from one point it is a perfect picture with an old theater, a piano on stage with dancers and a circus girl hanging in a ring. The image changes completely when you walk around the painting because the canvas is stretched in a three-dimensional way. The pillars of the theater bend in all directions, the piano collapses completely, the dancers take on plastic forms and the circus girl turns into a bodybuilder and pushes the round ring apart.
Because of the Covid lockdown I painted an empty room.
The painting is 276 cm x 126 cm and you can see it in person in the foyer of the Park Theatre in Eindhoven The Netherlands.
